Let’s say we’re a student on summer vacation and we’re handing out flyers to get our pocket money. The officials of the course told us that they would give us a fixed fee and a certain percentage from the sale if the course was sold. There is only one condition, the flyer design belongs to us.
Since we were novices, we quickly prepared a flyer design and had our first day’s prints printed, 100 copies per day.
Day 1
We distributed 100 flyers, but only 2 people responded. We achieved a 2% return, which is a very bad figure for us. When we thought about why so few people returned, we realized that the majority of the flyers we handed out are 30 years or older. We missed something on the first day as we were new to this business. We could not identify our target audience. In order not to make the same mistake on the 2nd day and to increase the returns,

Day 2
We distributed 100 flyers and at the end of the day, the number of returners increased, but not at a level to our satisfaction. Only 8 people returned and we still did not find what we expected. When we started to think about the reasons, we came to the conclusion that our flyer design was bad. We decided to prepare a more professional design. We made 100 new prints using more interesting pictures and readable fonts.

Day 3
We started to distribute 100 flyers with new designs, yes, it started to attract more people’s attention, the time it took to look and read increased, but we still couldn’t reach the numbers we were aiming for. The number of callers on the 3rd day is 14 people. While we were thinking about how we can increase the returns, we realized that the price of 2 currencies was given as 1200 TL. We met with the course officials and discussed whether we could organize a campaign and created a new campaign. Buy 2 currencies, get 1 rate 50% off. We have redesigned our flyer with a total of 1500 TL for 3 currencies.
We have optimized our offer to increase sales
Day 4
We started to distribute our new offer and new design, and we managed to increase our return rate, which was 2% on the first day, to 40% at the end of the 4th day. It may be a sufficient number for such a campaign, but we started to think about how we can increase it more. We wanted to see how returns would be affected if we changed the region where we distribute flyers. We wanted to try our luck on the street where the young people spend more time in cafes.
Day 5
The changes we made seem to have worked. We managed to increase our returns from 40% to 55%. We were able to increase our marketing process, which started with 2%, to 55% as a result of the improvements we made.
